TMA stands for Technology for Modern Academies: one platform that replaces scattered WhatsApp groups and paper records with a portal for every admin, teacher, student and parent.
Our Story
TMA began as Tutoring Manager Africa. We started out building for tutoring centres across Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and beyond, which were running their work through WhatsApp groups, paper registers and memory.
Then schools began asking whether we would build for them. When we looked closely at how schools are actually run, we saw a gap that the school software they already had was not closing, and it was a bigger problem than the one we had started with.
So we built TMA for schools, and for every institution that runs like one.
School software stopped
at the office.
Most institutions, schools and tutoring centres we met ran on scattered WhatsApp groups and paper records. The few with school management software were not much better off: the same basic administration every product offers, repeated, and helping less than it promised. Before long the real work went back to the WhatsApp groups and the paper.
What they all lacked was the link between the administrative work of a school, the development of its students and the advancement of the institution itself. So we built TMA to join them.
